The first law of library science "books are for use" means that books in libraries are not meant to be shut away from people.

" Every reader his/her book "

The second law of library science "every reader his (or her) book" means that librarians serve a wide collection of patrons, acquire literature to fit a vast collection of needs, do not judge what specific patrons choose to read. Everyone has different tastes and differences & we should respect that.

" Every book its reader "

The third law of library science "every book its reader" means a library's books have a place in the library even if a smaller demographic might choose to read it.

" Save the time of the reader "

The fourth law of library science "save the time of the user" means that all patrons should be able to easily locate the material they desire quickly and efficiently.

" The library is a growing organism "

The fifth law of library science "the library is a growing organism" means that a library should be a continually changing organism. Books, methods, and the physical library should be updated over time.

About Library


      The K.L.E. Society’s Shri Mrityunjaya College Dharwad Library is one of the oldest Library with rich collection of 38,143 Volumes, 14,611 Titles, 06 Journals, 22 Magazines, 10 News Papers & 95 CD’s/DVD as on 31-03-2024. Our Library is capable of meeting the changing needs & demands of present & future users. It was established along with the inception of the College in 1973. College Library starts functioning at 9-30 A.M. & closes at 5-30 P.M. on all working days. The floor area of the  Library is 300.73 sq mtrs (3235.85 Sq Ft)  total seating capacity of the Libraries is 75. The Books are classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. Our College Library is completely automated by making use of the Information Technology (E-Lib Library Management Software). The present Version is : 16.2. The Library is covered CCTV Surveillance.

             It is an Independent dynamic exclusive website for Library & Information Center. It is an information website which provides the information about the Library, freely available open access e-resources, Web OPAC, Information Repository & facilities available in the Library.

          In this Staff & Students can access 24X7 freely available open access E-Books, E-Journals, E-Magazines, E-News Papers, NDL E-Resources, online videos on various subjects like Personality Development, Interview Skills, Yoga, Learn Computer Basics, Spoken English, Competitive Examination etc.
In order to inculcate & enhance the General Reading Habits amongst students (other than University Prescribed Syllabus) Department of Library Organizes.
